  • Total Carat Weight: 2.66 ctw
  • Precious Metal Weight: 2.85 dwt/0.1425 ozt
  • Precious Metal Material: The diamond-set face is silver, while the reverse tests for between 10-14k white gold and bears a bright rhodium finish. Around the female end/locking clasp of the reverse subtly evidences a former yellow gold wash, which likely once covered the entirety of the underside of the piece.

  • Weight: A very nicely weighted 4.42 grams
  • Markings: Unmarked
  • Era: This brooch's materiality, design, and faceting type strongly suggest that it dates to the Edwardian period, likely the mid-late 1910s, though it could be that this is an early Art Deco piece.
  • Buyer Notes: Research shows an estimated value of $4,350.00. This is not a formal, written appraisal, but may be helpful when considering a purchase.

      The Story:

Bold in history and beauty, this brooch is a one of a kind heirloom piece, with virtually no comparables on the market at the time of listing. It is an absolutely dazzling jewel set brilliantly aglitter with an overflow of bright Old Mine Cut diamonds, each one carefully faceted by hand over a century ago. During the Edwardian period when this brooch was crafted, the nature-inspired motifs of the Nouveau movement were steadily evolving into the sleek, geometricized forms for which the Art Deco movement is known. Being such an interstitial period, the 1910s harmoniously exuded both the earthy elegance of the former movement as well as the proud glamor of the latter. This brooch wondrously exemplifies this aesthetic marriage.

Throughout jewelry history, specific imagery and motifs have been honed as creative interpretations of richer symbolism. Every detail, pattern, design and emblem of a piece can be 'read' together to reveal the depths of the jewel's deliberate significance. This brooch can be understood in this very manner:

The shamrock, a symbol for good fortune, conveys a message of virtue through each of its three leaves: loyalty, amiability and integrity. St. Patrick is commonly associated with shamrocks, as the saint proposed the plant's metaphorical demonstration of the sacred mystery of the Holy Trinity: God is also Spirit and Savior, forming a perfect triune that reveals God as a father, a friend and a bridge that lovingly connects the creation to the Creator. Shamrocks are perceived as protective amulets, guarding the wearer from harm and suffering, while also bestowing upon them both grace and honor. The shamrock's amalgamated symbolisms remind us that the divine is a living essence indwelling in all beings.
Finally, the gemstone choice adds yet another layer to the story: diamonds represent fortitude and strength, time-forged beauty and the constance of fidelity of the heart. The number of diamonds present is 26, which itself harbors numerological significance in Jewish and Christian faiths. In Hebrew Gematria, 26 corresponds to the name of God (YHWH, or Yahweh), and likewise, the Torah was given in the 26th generation since God created the world and all in it. In the King James Exhaustive Concordance laid out by James Strong in 1890, Greek words used in the Holy Scriptures are assigned numbers. The 'Greek Strong' word that was assigned the number 26 is agapē ( ἀγάπη). This word's translation is very specific, describing an unselfish love and concern for others.
This brooch is as vivid in history and lore as it is in undeniable beauty, and enhancing the piece's value and rarity is the top-tier color, clarity and quality of the diamonds set within. A treasure of the gilded era, yet an heirloom for generations to come, this brooch is a once in a lifetime find.

Sale Terms: Sale prices are only valid within the prescribed sale window, unless otherwise stated by Revival Fine Jewelry or agreed upon between Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated customer. To maintain business sustainability and general fairness, individual customers are not entitled to exclusive notification of, or owed access to, store sales antecedently. Specially Negotiated Deals: Items purchased at specially negotiated discounts, deals or prices through any platform between Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated customer are considered final sale, including rates arranged and agreed upon via Facebook, Instagram, email or any other method. Closing deals at special rates reflects a desire by both parties to reach an expeditious and absolute sale. The intention of specially negotiated discounts, deals or sale prices through any platform between Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated customer, is to eliminate extra expenses and/or use of time and resources to formally list or re-list items per their specific and inherent value-determining qualities, as well as avoid unseen overhead business costs, stocking obligations, and all other disclosed or undisclosed monetary and nonmonetary expenditures.

Pricing: Revival Fine Jewelry reserves the right to decrease, increase, alter and modify inventory pricing to meet market rarity, demand or value; to offset platform, transaction or seller's fees; to adapt to economic inflation and fluctuation; and to defray specific business expenses. Pricing is the sole discretion of every small business.

Regarding Brooches & Pins: Often significantly and curiously undervalued jewelry items, brooches, pins and stick pins are treasured pieces of history in this shop. Accordingly, their pricing is calculated analogous to other fine jewelry, including their symbolic meaning, rarity and historical prestige. Such pieces are typically converted to other forms of jewelry, and are therefore becoming increasingly rare in their original states. Aside from being perfectly wearable as sophisticated lapel ornaments, brooches and pins of all kinds are prime candidates for many kinds of fine jewelry conversions, including rings, earrings, pendants, and charms, if so desired by the consumer post-purchase. Revival Fine Jewelry does not perform conversion projects for customers.

Regarding Storage & Boxes: All specifications, including but not limited to the measurements, age, origins, and material compositions are supplied in good faith as professional estimations constructed using professional grade tools, years of learned and honed skills, educational resources and academic scholarship, and refined research methods. Regardless of our confidence in our descriptions and the photographs deemed viable extensions of these descriptions, we cannot guarantee the definitiveness, faultlessness, or exactitude beyond our knowledge and expertise. Kindly keep in mind that this and all items are sold as-is vintage, antique and estate secondhand wares, and consequently bear conditional wear in matter and operation commensurate with age and use.
